Formula and method
Volume in m³ = length × width × depth / 100. Liters = m³ × 1000. Round bag count up.
Worked example
A 5 m × 2 m bed at 5 cm depth needs 0.5 m³, or ten 50-liter bags.
What the result assumes
Assumes a rectangular bed and uniform depth. Subtract areas occupied by paths or structures before using the estimate.
Common question
Can I use bag volumes in cubic feet?
Convert the bag volume to liters first; one cubic foot is approximately 28.3168 liters.
