Wavelength = 299,792,458 × velocity factor / frequency in Hz.

Worked example

At 100 MHz in free space, wavelength is 2.99792458 m, approximately 3 meters.

What the result assumes

A factor of 1 is free space. Transmission lines and other media may have a lower propagation speed; use the specified factor.

Common question

Is wavelength the same as an antenna’s physical length?

No. Antenna geometry, end effects, and materials affect the physical length needed for resonance.
