Formula and method
Elapsed days = end date − start date. Inclusive counting adds one calendar day.
Worked example
January 1 to January 31 is 30 elapsed days, or 31 days with inclusive counting.
What the result assumes
Dates are evaluated as calendar dates in UTC so daylight-saving changes do not alter the result. Weekends and holidays are included.
Common question
Does this count business days?
No. It counts all calendar days, including weekends and public holidays.
