Formula and method
Mean = sum / count. Median is the middle sorted value, or the mean of the two middle values. Range = maximum − minimum.
Worked example
For 2, 4, 6, 8, both mean and median are 5, and the range is 6.
What the result assumes
Use a dot for decimals and do not use commas as thousands separators. Up to 1,000 numbers are accepted.
Common question
Why can the median differ from the average?
Extreme values affect the mean more strongly. The median uses the center of the sorted list.
